Homefire Brazier vs Ovals: a quick value check

10 Oct 2026

Large smooth ovals beside smaller square briquettes
Ovals are the larger pieces. Brazier is the more compact briquette.

Both are popular smokeless options, but they are not identical on energy cost.

Using Homefire’s published gross calorific values, Brazier sits at roughly 8.75 kWh/kg while Ovals sit at roughly 8.89 kWh/kg. On recent delivered 25 kg packs the board has shown Brazier ahead on £/kWh even after the small difference in energy density.

Ovals are larger and suit some open fires and stoves differently; Brazier is more compact. The right choice depends on your appliance and how you like the fire to behave, but the £/kWh column lets you see the running-cost difference clearly.
